In memory of

Helen Brockman

March 14, 1925 -  March 19, 2019

Surrounded by her loving family, Helen (Eleni) Brockman transformed into the Spirit Realm on March 19th, 2019. She had just reached the tender age of 94.
Helen was born in Ayios Konstantinos, Lakonias, Peloponnisos, Greece, just above the town of Sparta, on March 14th, 1925.
Helen had been battling numerous health problems for the last 5 years, but at the end she died peacefully at Collingwood Hospital, a true Spartan Warrior Goddess who faced her challenges with courage and grace. Throughout her final days, although she couldn’t speak, she graced us with her beautiful smile and squeezed our hands and occasionally nodded to indicate she knew we were there and loved us.
She will be forever missed and eternally remembered by Her loving and faithful husband, Herbert Brockman, her daughter, Yvonne Brockman, her step-son, Rolf Brockman (Donna), her late son, Paul Brockman, Paul’s two daughters April Del Monte(Michael) and Nicole Brockman, and Rolf’s three sons, Kris Brockman, Aaron (Lee) Brockman and Matthew (Laura) Brockman. Her great grandchildren are 5 with one to be born shortly....Mason, Myles, Blake, Sienna, Declan, and one more to be within days!
Helen was an outstanding human being, full of life and love, kindness and grace. Anyone who knew her would agree. She always made everyone feel important, respected, and loved. Helen was a salt of the earth kind of person who loved gardening and nurturing all living things. When she first came to Canada, she babysat 10 children and they would all call her “Mommy Helen”. Her granddaughters April and Nicole lived with their beloved “yiayia” and opa off and on for many years.
Helen was a very hard working, passionate woman who owned and operated three restaurants with her loving husband, Herbert, two in Toronto and the last one in Wasaga Beach. She worked until the tender age of 79, when a fall causing a broken hip forced her to retire. She lived her final years in Wasaga Beach accompanied by her husband and beloved pets, felines Keisha and late Orangina, and canine Sanjaya. She was frequently visited by her daughter, Yvonne and son Rolf and family, and granddaughters, April and Nicole. Her final year was spent at Sweet Mays Retirement Home in Stayner , and finally after another fall with a broken hip, she lived out her last months at the Stayner Care Centre.
Helen (Eleni) Brockman will be buried beside her beloved son, Paul Brockman.
Funeral and Celebration of a Life Well Lived will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Chapel on Monday, March 25th.
Visitation: 1pm Service: 2pm Burial 3:15 pm Celebration of Life: 3:45-5pm
At Helen’s Celebration of Life, we would be so pleased if anyone would like to share a short anecdote about a pleasurable interaction with Helen.
In Lieu of flowers, a small donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, would be warmly welcomed. There will be a donation box on site.

I had the joy of caring for such a wonderful woman who was like a mum to me We would sit and recalled her moment running the restaurant and staffers She said I reminded her of one called Cha cha.She sang for us all at the home. When I was leaving for home I visited her along with my niece and she remember us and told us how much she misses us.Of all my visits with her it was the first time she cried.I told her I will come back to see her when I return to Canada not knowing it was my last visit with her.HELENE I loved you so much Rest In Peace

Helen was a dear. I first met her when she babysat my niece. Little did I know then that years later her daughter, Yvonne, would become a colleague and friend of mine, and I would again get to see Helen. She was always gracious and charming, and what a cook! I will always remember her kind ways and wonderful smile.
