Heidemarie Lakshman

February 24, 1938 -  September 16, 2017

Heidi Lakshman died September 16, 2017 at the Mackenzie Health Centre in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She was surrounded by all her children and grandchildren bedside for her final night.

She was born and raised in Germany. In the sixties she married and moved to Canada, where she started her family and spent most of her life.

Heidi is survived by her daughter Monica, her son Ravi, her granddaughters Brooke and Sophie, her Grandsons Eric, Rohan, and Brendan, her sisters Ruthild, Vera, Jutta, Susie and Gisela, and son-in-law Babak. She was preceeded in death by her late husband A.B. Lakshman.

Her strong will, determination and sheer optimism were a testament to her resilience in her lengthy battle with ALS. She was an inspiration to many. She will be deeply missed. A Baha'i memorial service will be held on Sunday September 24, 2017 at the Elgin Mills Funeral Centre.

Hello dear family of Heidi,
I knew Heidi when I was supervising the PSWs at Hesperus and she lived there. I will always remember her. I found it a priviledge to be in her company. She was friends to myself, my husband and son. And I saw how very social; very community-minded she was also.
I am glad to have also met some of her family. I felt she was very proud of you all.

Heidi is a special soul who came to fulfill a special purpose, which she did right to the end of her journey, even under the most daunting circumstances. Her singular point of focus, unwavering dedication and strong will power speak volumes.

She is in a 'far, far better place than this world dreams of'. I say,'adieu Heidi' but I find myself feeling her presence even if faintly.

May her family find strength, peace and blessings.
