HEDWIG (HEDY) SEMS

Hedwig passed away peacefully at home in Toronto on May 31, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She survived her husband Albert and leaves behind her devoted sons Harry and Dieter, her only granddaughter Katy (Michael), her sister Margaret, and much beloved family in Canada, Europe and the United States.

Hedwig grew up in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1949. She was an accomplished guitarist, a singer in many choirs, passionate about gardening, loved to cook, supported missionary work, and was very active in her church.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4th from 4-6 p.m. and at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 5th. The celebration of Hedwig's life will be held at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Road, east gate entrance) in the Chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5th. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to North York General Hospital, Liebenzell Mission of Canada, and Sick Kids Hospital.

So sorry to read of your mom's passing, Harry. I didn't know her, or any other members of your family, but she must have been a great mom because, as a young guy, you were an outstanding person. That rarely happens by accident. Condolences to you and your family.
Sincerely, Drew Blackwell
