In memory of
Harwant Kaur Sagoo
January 28, 1931 -
October 19, 2022
The only daughter of Sardar Inder Singh Suri and Sardarni Tej Kaur, Harwant Kaur was born on January 28, 1931 in Nakuru, Kenya. She was a sister to four loving brothers, Satwant, Pyara, Patwant, and Sarjeet.
She married Gurmit Singh Sagoo on December 25, 1951 and moved to Jinja, Uganda, where they lived with their 3 children Pommy, Mini and Lily.
Subsequent to the political upheaval that occurred in Uganda in 1972, Harwant was forced to leave the country with her family, where they started a new life in Montreal, Canada.
Harwant had an infectious smile that could light up a room. She was a loving mother, doting grandmother and devoted friend who loved entertaining and making sure everyone was fed and happy.
Harwant was an accomplished artist, had a passion for crocheting and knitting and won several competitions in the East African Womenโs Art.
She is survived by her son Pommy (Navraj), her daughters Mini (Daljit), and Lily (Shamit), her grandchildren Kabir (Mandeep), Sandeep (Jassi), Sonny, Sascha (Aaron), Meira, Neil (Katie), and great-grandchildren Mila, Leo, Maya, Raina, Amreen, Kiran, and Romik.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff of The Village of Erin Meadows for taking exceptional care of Harwant during these past few years.
