Hamilton Kwok Wah Chan passed away November 22, 2019 at the Markham Stouffville Hospital at the age of 66. Hamilton was a beloved husband to Anna and loving father to Erica (husband Andrew) and a doting grandfather to Keira.
Born in Hong Kong, Hamilton grew up playing various sports. He was known for his height and gained the popular nickname, “Tall Man” that stayed until the end. Although he loved different sports, Hamilton enjoyed tennis the most, often using his left-handedness to his advantage. Hamilton was also a part time tennis instructor in Hong Kong. His most cherished student however is his daughter, Erica, who he taught to love the game as well.
Hamilton had a long career as a computer analyst/programmer. He worked at Toronto Hydro for over 15 years where he became friends with many of his co-workers, especially those who shared his interest in wine and karaoke.
Hamilton will be missed by all those around him. We will all miss his kindness, his cheerfulness, and his famous failed story-telling amongst countless other things. The family would like thank all the doctors, nurses and other staff members at Markham Stouffville Hospital for their help in the past year. Please join us for visitation and service on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Elgin Mills Funeral Center (9 a.m. – 11 a.m.). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Markham Stouffville Hospital in memory of Hamilton.
