In memory of

Gwendolyn Veronica Ward

May 28, 1929 -  January 12, 2023

On January 12th Gwendolyn Veronica Ward of Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, took her final breath, surrounded by her loved ones. The sun rose and the world welcomed Gwendolyn, affectionately known to many as “Gwen”, “Gwenny” and “Granny”, on May 28, 1929, a day the world became a little brighter. Gwen lived a full and warm life, filled with joy. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Granny always had a big heart to match her wide smile. She had been quite the entertainer, the cook and the baker; the server, the giver and the caretaker.

Gwen was predeceased by her parents Mable Edwards and Rupert Harris, her husband Noel Ezekiel Ward, her sister Dorothy Brown, and a stepdaughter Bernetta Jarvis. She is survived by her children: Annette, Althea, Brenda, Brian and Karen (Ralph); several stepchildren; many grandchildren who include: Michelle, Khanya (Darynne), Tamiko, Tyler, Nathaniel, Carly, Brittany, Addison and Cristyn; and several great-grandchildren who include: Jahfari, Shakir, Danté, Jahmoni, Shomari, Jahniya, Kameron, Keira and Tierra.

Gwendolyn has been an adopted mother and grandmother to many extended family members, friends and strangers.

Granny will be forever loved and forever remembered!

The Ward family would like to thank everyone extensively for sending condolences and watching the funeral service for the late Gwendolyn Veronica Ward. Your support during these times is much appreciated.

I met Mummy around 1999, when she visited Brenda in the USA. I found her to be very sweet and loving. She and Brenda came to spend a weekend with my husband and I and we had so much fun. I had lost my own mother a few years prior so having her talk to me and give me motherly advice touched me so much that I have never forgotten her kindness..It was so good to see her face last year when Brenda made a video call to her while visiting me. I will never forget you Mumsie. I know that you are resting safely with our Saviour, no more pain! Rest well. With love from Semer and Afi.

Gwen, who was more like a big sister to us is gone. She was a wonderful person. She was caring, very generous with her love and whatever she had. She was helpful to our kids, babysitting both of them at some point in time. How she managed to accomplish so much is something she will always be remembered for. We will all miss her. She is gone, but will never be forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace. Love from our family.
