Giuseppina (Josephine) Serio, born September 15, 1940, deceased August 31, 2024.

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Josephine Serio (nee Carovillano) after a long bout of dementia on August 31, 2024 at the age of 83.

Josephine will be lovingly remembered by her children, Assunta (Spina), Nicola and Maria (Flammia); grandchildren, Nicole (Spina), Michelle (Spina), Michael, Stefanie, Teresa, Pat (Flammia), Joe (Flammia), numerous other family members and friends and the loving staff at Markhaven Home for Seniors. Josephine was predeceased by her mother Nunziata; husband, Mike; and siblings, Ralph and Peter.

Josephine Serio left the small village of Vinchiaturo in the Italian Campobasso region for a new life in Canada. Josephine and her late husband Mike settled in Toronto in October 1958. In addition to raising a family of three children, Assunta, Nick and Maria, Josephine worked for 35 years at Providence Villa as a nursing assistant caring for the elderly. Josephine loved to knit dolls and colourful blankets. A loving mother, Josephine will be remembered for her sense of humour, sharp wit, and hearty laugh. She was a special person who will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4th from 4-8pm at Pine Hills Funeral Centre 625 Birchmount Road (North of St. Clair Ave E.). The family wishes to have a private funeral and burial service.
