In memory of

Gratzer Elisabeth

June 19, 1924 -  November 23, 2017

Elisabeth Gratzer (nee Christmann) was born in a small town in Croatia to parents Franz and Katarina Christmann. She was one of 7 children and the eldest daughter. Her father, who was a forest ranger and game warden, died when she was just 12 years old and at the outbreak of WW II, her mother left Croatia with 4 of the youngest children.

They were in transit through Austria, Hungary (where she met her husband Stefan Gratzer 1926-2016) and finally settled in Germany. Elisabeth, her husband and children lived in West Germany until 1959 when they decided to emigrate to Canada, following Stefan's older brother. She and Stefan lived in Brampton for over 30 years and enjoyed hosting many family functions in their home.

She is survived by her children, Julie and Frank; her grandchildren Alida and Marcus (Erin) and great-grandson Declan; and her youngest brother Tony (Marianne) who still lives in Germany.

She will be greatly missed by her entire family.

Julie, it is always hard to lose your parents because you are left feeling very vulnerable!! Sorry for the long period of suffering your parents went through - that is so difficult not just for them but for the entire family!!! Hopefully, everyone can now have a period of rest and enjoyment of the happy memories you shared with your family.
