In memory of

甄國喜 Gordon K. H. Jin

May 21, 1933 -  October 23, 2017

Gordon Kuo Hee Jin , died early Monday morning Oct 23, 2017. He passed away peacefully at Extendicare Bayview where he and his family called home for five years. He was well cared for there after a stroke in 2012 that resulted in left side paralysis.

He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary; devoted father to his daughter Elvine; his sons Kenyon, (daughter-in-law) Lise, (granddaughters) Shannon and Bernadette; and Nelson, (daughter-in-law) Nancy, (grandchildren) Kieran and Kaelyn. Also, his brothers Kuo Young Jin, (sister-in-law) Pui Fun Jin, (nephew) Hackman and (niece) Carman; and Kuo Hon Jin, (sister-in-law) Sookeue Fong, (nephews) Raymond and Kenny.

Born in a small village near Guangzhou, Guangdong, China he came to Canada 1953 where he joined his grandfather in Sudbury, Ontario. He found work as waiter at Golden Gate Garden Restaurant and he lived in an apartment buiding on the east side of Sudbury. It was there he met and charmed his eventual wife, Mary. In 1960, Mary's family moved to Toronto and Gordon followed. They were married a year later.

Arriving in Toronto allowed Gordon to further his passion for education. He enrolled himself at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (University) and in 1972 he graduated receiving a Diploma in Architectural Technology. Though he did not persue a career in the architectural field he remained interested in building and design. Instead, Gordon became a lithographer and dedicated 27 years with Arthurs Jones Lithographing Ltd., retiring in 1993.

He enjoyed listening to classical music and loved playing the violin. One of his favourite pieces to play was Meditation from the opera Thais. Gordon was also skilled at the art of Chinese calligraphy, an active member in the Chinese community and an avid swimmer.

Funeral services to be held at York Cemetary and Funeral Centre on Saturday October 28.
Flowers are welcome.
