Gloria Maude Roache

April 14, 1940 - April 11, 2018

It is with profound sadness that the family of Gloria Roache announces her passing on April 11, 2018, shortly before her 78th birthday, at the Scarborough General Hospital. She is survived by her sons Mervyn (Maureen), Roy (Chanel), Wilt (Janice) and Allan (Terica), her brothers Sydney and Noel, her sisters Dora and Pearline, and her many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gloria is predeceased by her husband Hector, her son Walter (Kristeen), her brother Roy, her mother Martha and father Zaccheaus.

Gloria was born in St. Kitts, West Indies and immigrated to Toronto in the 1960's. She worked in sales, primarily furniture retail, where her drive and determination resulted in recognition from her colleagues in Canada and abroad. Her greatest pride was her family, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held at the Pine Hills Funeral Centre 625 Birchmount Road on Monday April 16, 2018 from 7-9PM. The funeral service will also be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre on Tuesday April 17, 2018 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.

Floral tributes are welcomed as are donations in Gloria’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Mom,

Words cannot express the profound loss and emptiness I feel inside. You have been a mom, a friend, a confidant, a role model, a mentor, and just an extraordinarily sweet individual. You have fostered close relationships with those around you because you inspired others to live life to the fullest, just as you always have.

I know in time that the feeling of sadness will turn to joy as I reflect back on the wonderful memories of the loving care, unconditional kindness, and spirituality you showed to me, my brothers, and all who knew you.

I did not get the opportunity to know Gloria personally since she emigrated St. Kitts even before I was born. However, I know other members of the family. It is a beautiful and very loving family.

May the mercies of the Almighty God comfort her surviving siblings, Noel and the others, and her children and their respective families.

May the soul of Gloria rest in eternal peace from her many years of travail on this earth.
