In memory of
Gloria Lorraine Curley
February 15, 1929 -
May 2, 2023
Following a long illness, Gloria Lorraine Curley (nee Sherman) of Scarborough, Ont., passed away quietly on May 2nd at the age of 94.
Gloria is predeceased by her husband Richard (Merv), and survived by her sister Joyce Sherman of Winnipeg, Man., her sons, Michael (Jill), Gary, Bryan, and David as well as her grandchildren, Shannon (Jason), Deanna (Rhys), Adam, and Taylor (Richard). She also leaves behind two great granddaughters, Lakelyn and Marlowe.
Born in Winnipeg, Man. on February 15, 1929 to Roy and Florence Sherman, Gloria and her sister Joyce were as thick as thieves, always entertaining their parents and family friends with dance routines and performances.
In 1952 Gloria married Merv and the two soon moved to Montreal, Que. after his job with the CBC relocated them. From there they made their final move and put down roots in Scarborough, Ont. where they raised their four sons. Before retiring, Gloria had worked for Byway Supermarket, Centennial College and Hallmark Cards.
Gloria was an avid wrestling fan, adored cats, loved to carry a tune, and could maneuver multiple bingo dabbers with impressive ease. A woman who was truly up for anything, she quickly learned how to wrangle four boys and jumped in on the fun riding motorcycles and racing go-karts in her earlier years. In fact, all her sons will proclaim that she was way cooler than them!
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to The Wexford Residence for their compassionate care.
To honor Gloria, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
