Giovanni (John) Gallo was born July 19th 1926, to Francesco and Rosina Gallo in Paterno Calabro Italy, one of nine siblings, Mike, Teresa, Ida, Maria, Carmen, Josephine, Anna, and Leonard.

His children are Frank (deceased), Rose, Domenic, Lina and Dave Gallo. His grandchildren are Shane, Ian, Sarah, Rachel, Malachi, Samuel, Gabrielle, Jesse and Hannah.

John and his family worked the land in Italy as farmers for many years until he and some of his family began the migration to Canada in the early 50’s. Once they established work and residence in Canada, they then had family start coming over, including his beloved fiancée, Ida Naccarato.

In 1953, he married Ida in Toronto. They had literally known each other from childhood, their respective families being neighbors in Italy. They worked very hard together to help with their families and raise their own under sometimes very trying circumstances.

Some years later, he became a devout Jehovah's Witness, and he was very zealous in his preaching work. He was always very keenly interested in letting any one he met know about Jehovah the God of the Bible and the truths found in it. He was known as “Brother Scarborough” due to the enthusiasm of his preaching work when living there for many years. Even in death he had chosen his memorial inscription as Isaiah 43:10 to ensure continued praise to his God. It reads:

""You are my witnesses,” declares Jehovah, “Yes, my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and have faith in me and understand that I am the same One. Before me no God was formed, and after me there has been none.""

In this way he will be most fondly remembered to all. For his love of Jehovah, his wife, his family and the many friends he has made over his lifetime.
