Gerlinde (Linda) Luise Oehlrich, 80

Gerlinde Oehlrich, age 80 of Mississauga, ON, Canada, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017. She was born to the late Herman and Margareta Barbara Bruebach on July 7, 1937.
Gelinde was born in Leiderbach-Hoechst, Frankfurt A/M, Main Germany. After graduation from trades college, she was employed as a fine china and crystal purchaser / supervisor for a major department store. Gerlinde had a passion for dancing, she often performed at numerous social events. At one of those events she met the love of her life Friedrich (Fritz) Wilhelm Oehlrich, and their relationship blossomed into a loving marriage in May1956. She then immigrated to Toronto, Canada with her late husband Fritz in 1958 and she became a Canadian Citizen by choice in 1967. In 1962 Gerlinde was blessed with her only son Jan Michael Oehlrich. She was a consummate mother, homemaker and family matriarch. She was a gentle, generous, and selfless soul, who always put others before herself.

Gerlinde had a sister Margret (Marga), who she shared a special bond with. Family and friends were Gerlinde’s passion and delight. She loved to host, entertain and frequently had pool parties and other family and social gatherings at her house. Gerlinde loved to travel and take family vacations. One vacation they particularly enjoyed was their trip to Barbados’s. Gerlinde loved to suntan, loved the water, and was an avid gardener.
Gerlinde actively volunteered and enjoyed supporting her Church, and other charities.

Gerlinde is survived by her Son Mike; Daughter-in-law Sharon; Grandchildren; Alison, Nathan and their partners Gavin Snell and Jessica Oukes; and her Great-Grand-Daughter Zoë Luise Ann Snell; as well as, many other loving family members.

Gerlinde requested an intimate Celebration of Life and private entombment. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to the charities listed on the Meadowvale Funeral Center website listed below.
