It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Georgios ‘George’ Athanasakos. He passed peacefully and with a smile at the age of 92 on June 23rd, 2025 at Mackenzie Health Long Term Care.

He leaves behind his loving wife Panayota, children, Dina (Peter), Loui (Popy), grandchildren Paula (Matthew), Demi (Joshua), Angelia, Alissa (Alexander), Thomas and great grandchildren Sophia and Nora. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

George was born in Arna, Greece on September 10th 1932. He was the fifth of six children. His parents Elias and Stamatina raised him and his siblings Antonia, Konstandina, Panagiotis, Petros and Efigenia. He had the joy of spending his final moments with his youngest sister Efigenia visiting from Greece. They rekindled their sibling bond and childhood memories.

The family will greatly miss his wonderful sense of humour, infectious laugh and his many George-isms like Kosmos Kai Kosmakis and εμείς οι δύο φίλοι.
