George Tahan

September 15, 1928 - February 11, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Tahan on February 11, 2023 at the age of 94 years, who died peacefully at Silverthorn Care Community in Mississauga.

Devoted husband to dearly beloved wife Sonia (née Zaroukian) of 62 years, loving father to daughter Tamar, cherished grandfather of Taline and Greg, Survived by sister Lucie and brother Hagop (Rita) and several nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by his son-in-law Chris.

He is predeceased by his parents, son Greg and siblings Marie and Eugenie.

The family wishes to thank the Silverthorn Care Community for the wonderful care they provided to him.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17 (with visitation a half hour before) at:
York Cemetery – The Funeral Centre
160 Beecroft Rd.
North York, ON M2N 5Z5
Followed by interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or St. Vartan Armenian Church of Mississauga.

So many fond memories of my dear uncle, who was a gentle and kind man. My special memory was during my 3-week stay with his family back in 1979. He was so busy that it was hard to get quality time with him. So I would wait for him to get back from work after 11 pm, watching Star Trek (the original series!). He would have a light meal and we would chat for a while. It was a cherished personal time with him.

My sincere condolences to Sonia, Tammy, Taline and Greg.
