George Toth, 87, died January 5, 2020, surrounded by loved ones at Scarborough Grace Hospital, after a sudden illness.

Mr. Toth was born on April 19, 1932 in Hajdudorog, Hungary, to parents Toth Illés and Szabo Anna. He was 1 of 11 children.

In 1957 he made landfall on the shores of St. John’s, Halifax and traveled to Ontario where he explored many career opportunities and developed life-long friendships.

He married Orosz Marika (Mary) on October 21, 1967. Together they raised 2 children; George and Aniko. Father-in-law to Colette (née Kerr) and Joey Nicholson. Grandfather to 3; Madeleine, Jordan and Eden. God-father to 6.

In his spare time he enjoyed watching his son play soccer, tending to his vegetable garden, his 40-year-old rose bushes, opportunities to cook collectively with his family and dear friends and building family memories on trips to Europe. He had a clear passion for cars which he instilled in his son.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed every moment he could spend watching his grand-children grow. His outgoing personality guaranteed him friends everywhere he went. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife and 2 children.

Visitation will be held this Thursday, January 9 at Pine Hill Cemetery, 5pm to 9pm, located at 625 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough.

Church Mass will be held this Friday, January 10 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church at 11am. 432 Sheppard Ave. East. North York, followed by burial and reception at Pine Hill Cemetery.
