Dear Krause family
I have very fond memories of my uncle George, an extremely kind, warmhearted, quiet and unassuming man - with a very special sense of humour. In 1973, as a teenager, I visited George, Joan, and Jim (and Waldi!) in Toronto and spent a whole summer with my Canadian relatives. George took care of everything - in his unique quiet way, he made sure my Canadian summer was a wonderful experience!
Later, he visited with us in Berlin on several occasions and seemed to be genuinely delighted with everything… Letting himself, he charmed by our noisy family get togethers and regaling us with his sharp witted one liners.
Ruhe in Frieden, lieber Onkel Orje

We will always remember your warm welcome and smile Opa. The joy in your face when seeing your grandchildren was always so heartwarming. You will be missed by all whose lives you have touched. God bless you always.

Jim I’m so sorry for your loss. As only children we know how blessed we are to have a parent(s) in our lives as we get older ourselves. I have so many fond memories of your dad. Your dad loved coming for dinner every Sunday. My mom always included your dad as he was on his own. Your dad was a wonderful neighbour and good friend to my father. He was always happy to assist with anything. A wonderful man who will be missed.

George Krause was originally from Fichtenau, Germany, near Berlin. As of passing he was the last surviving brother of 5 children, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. He immigrated to Canada in 1953, arriving by ship in Nova Scotia, settling in the Beaches area of Toronto, moving to our home in Willowdale in 1963 with his wife Joan Krause and young son Jimmy. He found his calling in the Machining industry where he excelled and took every opportunity to enhance his knowledge and skills. He also had a strong command of all things electronic. By 1980 his wife Joan had sadly passed away and he took up the additional task of raising his son on his own while continuing with his employ, demonstrating a solid work ethic beyond compare and dedication to our family. By 2010 we were happy to have him rejoin us in our home, where he saw his grandchildren grow next to him every day, with laughter and love. Through my life he had consistently demonstrated the strongest of work ethics without complaint, a willingness to stand up to any and all adversity without failure. I am forever indebted to his moral and ethical example. I am so glad to have known him so much deeper in the last decade, where he had become my best friend, to the end. Never a frown, always a smile, with Love. Sincerely, Jim Krause

George Krause was born in Fichtenau, Germany, near Berlin. The middle child of 5 and last survivor of his family's generation. He immigrated to Canada in 1953, landing by ship in Nova Scotia, moving to Toronto in the Beaches area, later settling east of Yonge in Willowdale in 1963 with his wife Joan and young son Jimmy. He worked in the Machining industry and took every opportunity to advance his technical skills. He was also quite gifted when it came to all things mechanical, electronical, technological. He was a patient man with a heart of gold. He was Reliable, Hard Working, a Kind father and Dedicated husband. He became a single Father in 1980, following his wife Joan's illness and untimely passing. Without complaint or sign of adversity, he carried his family forward while demonstrating the value of family, hard work, perseverance and compassion. I will forever miss his smile, wisdom, wit and sense of understanding. Always demonstrating the highest moral and ethical standards. For the past 10 years we have lived closer together, giving his Grandchildren an opportunity to know and enjoy him while they grew. He also became my best friend, to the end. Sincerely, Jim Krause
