In memory of

George Fegaras

February 23, 1938 -  December 5, 2023

George Fegaras – dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend – passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2023 in Mississauga, Ontario Canada.

George was blessed with a large and loving family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-nine years, Eleni “Helen” and their children Jim and Steve (Fotula). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to one granddaughter, Eleni (Quentin), four grandsons, Angelo, George (his namesake), Alex and Niko and one great granddaughter Alora. George will forever be in the hearts of his one sister (Xrisoula) and her family. George was predeceased by his father, Dimitrios, his mother, Katerina, his eldest brother Evangelos, and his younger sister Voula. George will also be fondly missed by his countless family and friends, both in Canada and in Greece.

George was born on February 23, 1938 and grew up in Xirokambi, Sparti Greece. He served in the Greek military for 2 years and at the age of 26 travelled to Toronto in search of new opportunities. He married his bride, Eleni, in Toronto to start their new life together. Driven by his modest upbringing, George was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his granddaughter, four grandsons and great granddaughter. In his retirement, he and his wife Eleni enjoyed traveling to their home in Greece, where they spent every summer and fall together enjoying the beautiful weather, olive groves, sea, food, music, culture, family and friends.

George had a passion for his land and was a farmer at heart, spending time amongst his olive groves nurturing and harvesting his trees for oil and olives, and enjoying the fresh country air. He often took his grandchildren for a joy ride on his red tractor and spent evenings in the plateia in Xirokambi. George took pleasure driving his pristine, stick-shift ‘86 Audi around town and up the winding roads to Gorani on the Taygetos mountainside, with a proud smile on his face. He will forever be in the hearts of his family who will miss him more than words can express.
