In memory of

George Alevizakis

October 3, 1925 -  March 18, 2018

George John Alevizakis
October 3, 1925 - March 18, 2018
George passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the family who loved him so much. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and faithful friend to so many, George was a kind, disciplined and incredibly courageous man and an inspiration to all who knew him.

George was always ahead of the curve in the way he thought and the way he lived. He was a nature lover, a man of reason, a wartime hero, a historian, an accountant, an author, and always a man of his word. He had a thirst for learning and growing and was ready to have a friendly conversation with anyone interested in politics, the state of the world or where to find the best hiking trails in the area.

George was guided by a strong moral compass that guided the way he lived and the way he treated others. We will miss him dearly and his spirit will live on in our hearts and minds forever.

Friends and family are welcome to the visitation at York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road on Wednesday March 21st from 5pm to 9pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 22nd at 11am at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 222 Burbank Drive, North York with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the not-for-profit organization Sanctuary at www.sanctuarytoronto.ca or via mail at 25 Charles Street East, Toronto, Ontario M4Y 1R9

Dear Mrs Alevizakis, Helen, John and Christine,

I was terribly saddened to hear of your loss. I truly admired Mr Alevizakis, and have wonderful memories of sleeping over at your home as a child. Unfortunately I cannot attend any of the services, but please know that my thoughts are with you.

Dear Mrs. Alevizakis, John, Helen, Christine and families, We ( The O'Brien's) are very sorry for your loss. Mr. A. was always a very kind, interested and intelligent man who loved his family. A proud man...I can see him walking up from the bus with his briefcase intow, all suited up....ready to be home, change out of the office attire and to shorts and a short sleeved shirt and sandals. I can see him smiling at us when we were younger....and thinking "those crazy girls"... and laughing in his mind...as he continued to cut the lawn perfectly. Our sincerest condolences, Tracy, Mark & Tara #9

There is an incredible void without you. Thank you for always being a ray of sunshine, such a warm presence, and incredible teacher and mentor. Always thinking of you, Love, Christina

Helen, many years have passed since we worked together (1980s). I am sorry to read that your father has passed. I was on this page for another coworker and saw the familiar surname. You were lovely to work with. Your mother cooked dinner for me once when I was at your home.
God bless your father.
Pauline
