In memory of

Captain Geoffrey Newton "Geoff" Rae

October 18, 1943 -  August 3, 2018

It is with deep sadness the we announce the sudden passing of Captain Geoffrey Newton Rae "Geoff" in Toronto, Ontario on Friday August 3rd 2018.
Born in England in 1943, Geoff lived an incredible life, first starting to study navigation at the tender age of 13. He was extremely proud of his training at the renowned, HMS Conway naval training school. He was loyal to HMS Conway throughout his life and he went on to a distinguished career navigating the world's seas as a highly respected Naval Captain.
Truly a gentleman, Geoff leaves his "Darling" long time partner Sandra Daniels and the loving family they shared together in Ontario and B.C., his three sisters in the UK: Anne Keys, Stephanie Holden, Diane Goodwin, and their spouses. Geoff also had many nieces and nephews in the UK.
We bid our final farewell to Geoff at a private ceremony at Pine Hills Cemetery on Friday August 10th. In his memory we quoted from two of his favaourte poems and we share them you now:
Irish Blessing:
May the tide rise to meet you.
May the wind always fill your sails
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your decks.
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

The HMS Conway School Song:
Mine is the Conway, dear old Con-Way
Sons of every sea
I to the dear old ship belong, and she belongs to me
Sons of the Conway, dear old Con-Way
Sons of every sea
I to the dear old ship and she belongs to me

We are so grateful that for nearly 30 years, you held us closely in your arms, Geoff. We will miss you always.
