In memory of

Gail Butt

March 25, 1954 -  May 5, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Gail Butt announces her passing at the age of 66. She died peacefully holding her daughters hand at Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa on May 5th, 2020. After taking ill in recent months, she was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, losing her battle very suddenly.

Gail was born in Windsor, Ontario on March 25th, 1954 to Cecile and Joseph Lalley. She was predeceased by her sister Carol Silliphant and is survived by her brother Joseph Lalley. Gail married Clayton Butt 40 years ago and they welcomed two beautiful daughters who quickly became her best friends.

Gail is survived by her husband Clayton, her daughters Cecile and Kelly (Son-in-law Mike), her step-son Micheal (and his daughter Emily), her grandchildren Greyson and Noah and many other family and friends.

Gail had a special ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Her thoughtfulness and generosity was felt by all those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Diabetes Canada, a charity close to her and her family's heart. Details can be found here: https://www.diabetes.ca/

If anyone would like to reach out to her daughters they can email cecilebutt16@gmail.com and/or kelly-mitchell@live.ca

The family of Gail wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support being shown during this difficult time.

Gail was such a warm, loving and generous person. I fell in love with her the first time I met her as well as the whole Butt family. I called her “mama Butt”. I can hear her laugh in my mind right now so clearly. Her energy was pure and beautiful and I loved being around her so much. I tell people about how unique and special the Butt family is all the time, their amazing friendship with each other and how much they enjoyed being together. Gail and Clayton created two of the best girls I know that are a true reflection of their kindness and love. Cecile is one of the purest and brightest light in this world and I love her so much. My heart aches for this tragic loss and my deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to everyone that knew Gail, especially her family. There is a void in this world but there is some comfort knowing she is with her family above. Sending all my love.
