The Keates family is saddened to share that Mike passed away suddenly, but peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 at the age of 60. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra and his beloved children, David (Daniela), Emily (Jordan), Alexander and Julia. Cherished son to his mother Shirley and son-in-law to Bruna. Loyal brother to Jeff, brother-in-law to Dino (Norma) and uncle to his nephews & nieces, Josh & Emma Keates, Kristen, Justine, Brandon & Trevor Zorzi. He is predeceased by his father Fred and father-in-law Marco.
Born and raised in Oakville, he grew up close alongside his brother and cousins. Mike started his career at McDonnell Douglas where he worked for over 20 years, followed by Sandvik Mining for the remainder of his professional career. Throughout, he worked closely with his life-long friend, Bob Campbell, whose 50+ year friendship turned into a brotherhood.
He will be remembered as an honest, no nonsense, fun loving, devoted father and loving husband. Mike will be deeply missed by his family, friends, his extended family and everyone that knew him.
