Frances S. Wilson (nee Oliver)
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Frances, our loving and devoted mother, on December 12, 2020. She passed while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Mississauga, Ontario. She was in her 94th year.
Born in Toronto on Feb 17,1927 whilst her missionary parents were on furlough from their work for the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) she spent much of her childhood following her parents as they did deputation work. Her father returned to Africa to continue his work there returning on furlough over the next fifteen years. After high school she completed teacher training, with a primary teacher specialization. She met Paul, another teacher, and after they married in 1952, they both followed the call of missionary work and spent the next twelve years working as teachers for SIM at Kaltungo Teachers Training College and Kent Academy in Miango. They returned to Toronto with their four children in the late ‘60’s and were committed members of the High Park Baptist Church community for many years.
Frances was the beloved sister of Pauline, mother of Heather (Paul), Gordon (Elizabeth), Laurel (Brian) and Doug (Morag), proud grandmother of Melissa, Carolyn, Julianne, Andrew, Heather, Callum, Margaret, and Angus, and great grandmother to Clara, Luke, James, and Kieran.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Paul, and her devoted daughter, Heather.
She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, and teacher. After the family duties were complete, she spent many years volunteering as an ELT teacher for new immigrants to Canada.
While Frances will be dearly missed, we take comfort in the knowledge that she is resting in the depths of His love, and anticipate with ‘sure and certain hope’ the renewal of Creation and the resurrection of the body.
A celebration of her life will be held at Meadowvale Cemetery (7732 Mavis Rd, Brampton) on Thursday December 17th beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Flowers or donations to Banda Health, a medical mission of SIM in West Africa (https://www.sim.ca/software-for-church-hospitals/) are welcome. Online condolences may be expressed through the guestbook section of this website.
