Floyd Thomas Fowler

October 8, 1937 -  October 26, 2024

FOWLER, Floyd Thomas

Floyd passed away peacefully at AgeCare Samac Oshawa on Saturday October 26, 2024, in his 88th year. He was born on October 8, 1937, in Oshawa, to Robert ‘Bob’ and Annie (White) Fowler. He was predeceased by his only brother Karl (June 1969) and the love of his life and best friend, Iris, his wife of more than 66 years. (July 2023)
Floyd worked as a buyer for General Motors of Canada in Oshawa his whole career, retiring in 1988. He loved being around people and engaging in conversation. He had an incredible ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Floyd truly lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, enjoying food, golf and travel. Hawaii was certainly a favourite destination!
He is held dear in the hearts of his niece Karla Ann Fowler, goddaughter Shelley Kossatz and many close friends. A very special thank you is sent to all staff at AgeCare Samac, especially those on Lakeview Park for their incredible care and meaningful connections made with Floyd during his stay there.
As per Floyd’s wishes, his burial and celebration of life will take place later. Arrangements entrusted to THORNTON CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, (South of Taunton Road and off Dryden Blvd, 905-579-6787).

Heaven sure has gained another amazing guy! I feel honoured to have been able to spend so much 1-1 time with you these past 2 years. I'm already missing our casual chats, card games, deep philosophical discussions, #11's from Arby's and just silence as we hung out by the lake, waiting for another appointment! Your positiveity in difficult times was inspirational. I admired and respected you every day. Rest peacefully now..... Auntie, he's all yours again! Love Shell

It saddens me to know that I will never speak to Uncle Floyd again. I feel blessed to have been in attendance for his birthday celebration on Thanksgiving weekend. I always called him Uncle Floyd even though he was not my uncle but the uncle of my good friend Karla. This man had a heart of gold, he was always an absolute joy to be around, always in a great mood with that smile that warmed your heart! He loved his people unconditionally!! I will always feel blessed that i was a very small part of his life, and am grateful he has now rejoined Auntie Iris! Uncle Floyd you left your footprint on my heart, thank you for the time we shared. My condolenced to Karla and Shelley, all his extended family and friends. God Speed 🌹🙏

I am privileged and honoured to have known such a kind and caring man as Floyd. His ever positive attitude lifted the spirits of everyone around him. I will miss sitting and having tea with Floyd and Pat on a Monday morning.
