In memory of

Flora Joannou

September 27, 1938 -  July 2, 2025

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lovingly known as “Baba” to all of us.

Our beautiful and vibrant Baba Flora passed away on Wednesday July 2, 2025 at the age of 86. She lost her battle with cancer shortly after diagnosis surrounded by the loving arms of her family.

Baba will be joining her one and only love the late Iane Joannou. She will forever be lovingly remembered by her children, the late Sophie (Mike), Seva (Brian), Bill (Eva), and “adopted” daughter Bev (Kirk). She will be enormously missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Linda (Bruce), Bobby (Julia), Ben (Krystle), Tasha (Adrian), William, Joshua, Markus, Nina Sofia, and “adopted” grandson Matthew (Kevin). Baba will also be missed by her brother’s, George (Rajna), Stavro (the late Ella) and their precious families, extended family and dear friends.

Baba was faced with many challenges throughout her life but bravely persevered and became the pillar of strength and resiliency that taught us all morals, hard work, compassion, love, laughter, and above all steadfast loyalty to family. She was a passionate gardener and knitter, excelled at word search puzzles, was an avid watcher of news, and was the best babysitter and nurturer to all of us. She was a devoted, loyal, and hardworking employee of Wix Filters and Peek Freans for many years. Baba’s home and arms were always open. You were guaranteed to be greeted with a big smile, warm hugs and kisses, and lots of delicious food.

Viewing, funeral service, interment, and reception will all be held at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, Ontario on Monday July 7, 2025. Viewing from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Followed by funeral service at 12:00 pm. Luncheon thereafter.

If desired, donations to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Baba, you are the most amazing person I've ever known & while it breaks my heart to say goodbye I know that you're with your loved ones who have been waiting for you. I know that you are truly at peace. I am grateful we have made so many beautiful memories with you over the last few months - being able to look at photos, videos and hear your voice will be very comforting for the family. You will live in our hearts forever and I know I'll be seeing you, in some way, soon. Our future little ones will always know their Baba as if you were right here with us. We'll make sure to always set a piece of cora to the side for you. Thank you for loving us, guiding us and protecting us - I know you'll be doing the same from up in the clouds. I love you and will miss you more than words could express.

Forever honoured to be called your granddaughter,
Tasha

I only had the pleasure to know you for a few short years, yet you have left a profound effect on my life. The world is a little less bright, today, with you not in it. Thank you for so very many things - you will be very badly missed!
