Felix Huang, 94, passed away on May 9, 2019 at Mon Sheong Long Term Care Centre in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Felix was born on December 24, 1924 in Hangchow, China into a large fairly well off family with nine siblings. He was the second child and the eldest son. His father was a businessman working in the commercial salt trade and book publishing business in prewar China. In 1945 he graduated in economics from St. John’s University of Shanghai with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended New York University (NYU) and received a Masters’ degree in Economics in 1949.

For the better part of his life, Felix worked as the managing director of several Hong Kong textile mills and contributed to the early industrialization of Hong Kong in the 1960 and 1970s. He moved to Canada in 1983 and worked as an ESL teacher and later principal before retiring in 1992.
In his later years, Felix developed Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes and was moved to Mon Sheong Long Term Care Centre where he received daily nursing care. While in Mon Sheong, he attended adult day care and developed close relationships with some staff members. He had the reputation of a gentleman as he never lost his temper or raised his voice.
