With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Laura DeSouza, who passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on December 19, 1933, in Jinja, Uganda, to Vincentinho and Mafalda Cota of Betalbatim, Goa, India.
Laura’s courage in the face of adversity inspired all who knew her. Her unwavering faith sustained her through life's many trials.

She was the loving matriarch of a large family. Laura was known for her kind heart, deep spirituality, and steadfast devotion to her loved ones. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children; Edwige (Fraser), Elsa (Bob), Vincent, Judith (Placido), June (Ron), and Venant (Valerie), as well as, her eleven grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Dolly and brother Joe.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eustace DeSouza, and her siblings Clara, Maria, Margaret, Lilly, and John.

Laura’s life was a testament to the power of love, sacrifice, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, North York, on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ; Funeral Service to at 3:00 p.m. With a time of refreshment and fellowship to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
