In memory of

Fana "Fani" Rombou

September 23, 1926 -  August 1, 2025

Passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at Huron Lodge Long Term Care in Windsor, Ontario, at the age of 98.

Born on September 23, 1926, in Drenoveny, Greece, Fani spent her early years in the region of Macedonia, where she married and welcomed her beloved daughter, Agapy. Her strength and resilience were evident from a young age, as she was forced to leave her home during times of war. Despite the hardships, Fani forged a new life across Europe and eventually settled in Germany. In time, she immigrated to Canada to reunite with her sister, building a life rooted in family, perseverance, and love.

Fani’s journey was one of deep devotion to her family. After her daughter Agapy married a U.S. soldier and moved to the United States, Fani continued to show unwavering love and support—splitting her time between Canada and Michigan to be with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and later, great-great-grandchildren. She held a deep belief in the power of family bonds and the importance of staying connected to loved ones through all of life’s seasons.

Though Fani endured the loss of her cherished granddaughter Maria Rombou, her legacy continues through the lives she touched. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Agapy King; her grandsons, Adam Rombou and Jessie Rombou, along with their families; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Fana Rombou (great great grandchildren, Logan and Luna), Stephana Sawyer (great great grandchildren Lillyana and LaMarcus), and Paula Paris (great great grandchildren Na'Lah and Waleed). She is also remembered fondly by many extended family members across generations and borders.

Fani’s life was defined by warmth, strength, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. Her memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who had the privilege to know her.

A private family service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time with your loved ones and hold close—just as Fani always did.
