Evangeline Mousmanis
May 28, 1928 – April 5, 2023

Evangeline Mousmanis died peacefully in her sleep at almost 95 years of age, joining her beloved husband Nick and darling daughter Donna. She will be missed by her loving daughter Patricia (John), cherished grandchildren Lia (George) and Konstantine (Brooke) and adored great granddaughter Joanna. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, her sister-in-law, her godchildren, dear friends, cousins and neighbours.

The youngest of 5 children, Evangeline was born to her parents Andoni and Eleni in Florina, Greece and emigrated to Toronto, Canada at the age of 22 where she quickly excelled as a result of her talent as a dressmaker and clothing designer. Independent, strong-willed and with a discerning eye for quality, she was known for her sense of style, her beautiful clothing and would typically not leave the house without a coordinating silk scarf to match her outfit tied effortlessly around her neck.

Evangeline was renowned for her fantastic cooking and hosting skills; she truly enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home, and cherished very close relationships over the years with her extended family and many dear friends. Together with Nick she travelled the world, visiting 5 continents, and enjoying weekends at their secluded cottage. They were always first on the dance floor at community dances and celebrated 62 years of marriage before Nick’s passing in 2018.

While Evangeline’s health declined in recent years, she never lost her spark, and continued to make friends everywhere she went. The family want to thank her health teams for the excellent care she received at both Revera Leaside and at North York General Hospital, and invite donations to the hospital in her honour, in lieu of flowers. May Evangeline’s memory be eternal and may we all celebrate her passion for living her life to the fullest.

Visitation will be held at York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, on Tuesday, April 11 from 5pm to 8pm.
Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Wednesday, April 12 at 10:30 am with 1 hour visitation prior. Burial following the service at York Cemetery with Reception to follow.

Cherish your fond memories.-May she Rest in Peace and Good Health to the Family,

To Patty and family—I am so very sorry to hear the news about Aunt Vangie. Our parents shared such beautiful memories. Your mom was a generous and happy soul; strong and proud. I remember her telling me to always walk with a straight back and I still do to this day. I will never, ever forget the wonderful memories and how important your parents were in my life. May your mom’s memory be eternal and may she rest in peace. Together at last with Uncle Nick and Donna.

To Patti and family,
Please accept my very deepest sympathies. Your Mom and Dad were very special people. They were always so friendly and welcoming. After they moved away, I would see them in a parking lot or store and they would always welcome me with open arms. You are in my thoughts. I am out of town or I would have attended your Mom’s service.
