In memory of

Ethel Margaret Sidon

March 5, 1926 -  June 28, 2022

Ethel Margaret passed away peacefully at the Scarborough General Hospital on Tuesday June 28th, 2022 at the age of 96.
Ethel was born to the late Cecelia and Roswell Ravin in March 5, 1926 in Niagara Falls Ontario. She was also an older sister to her late brother Harold. Ethel was married to Andrew (Burnie) for 73 years and is survived by her loving daughters Victoria (Ken) and Paula (Cathy), her grandchildren Brandon (Lindsay) and Codi and her great grandchildren Mackenzie, Anderson, Rory and Benjamin and her niece Ardeth Ann Koop (Walter). Ethel was a stay-at-home mom for many years before returning to the workforce, during that time she was very involved in her Treverton Park community, she was president of the Woman’s Auxiliary of her church and president of her local curling organization. Ethel was a force to be reckoned with at the bridge table and enjoyed many years of weekly bridge games and away tournaments she was an avid curler and was known as “last rock Ethel”. Ethel was a great supporter of her daughters’ activities cheering Paula on the ball field or hockey rink, driving Vicki to baton competitions around the province. She enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren serving bagels and kraft dinner for lunches chasing gerbils, kittens and even drinking potions. Ethel has enjoyed time with her great grandchildren sharing stories, recipes and family traditions. We all enjoyed our yearly cottage vacation with the whole family in recent years. Ethel was a wonderful friend to everyone. Ethel and Burnie have enjoyed an amazing relationship, wonderful friends and many travels. Ethel and Burnie made friends wherever their travels took them and have maintained these friendships over the years. Ethel’s strength and resilience over the years have been a wonderful example to us all.
We are very thankful for the care that she received from the staff of the dialysis unit at Scarborough General Hospital and the PSW’s that have cared for her over the past year. If desired donations to the Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
“Your love in our hearts we will eternally keep”

Such a huge loss! There was always laughter and love where-ever Ethel went. Her gifts to the world were rewarded by the unceasing love and care she received from her family during these last months. My thoughts are with you V and P and your families.
