Eric died peacefully at the Ina Grafton Gage Home on April 29 where he had been a resident for just under two years. He is survived by his loving partner Ella, as well as by his cousin Billy, and nieces and nephews in Great Britain.
Eric was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and he completed his apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker in Leith. He emigrated to Canada in 1967 and settled into his trade as a “tin basher”. Until his retirement in 1999, he was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 30, and a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 11 (Scarborough).
Eric liked to travel especially to Bermuda where he could enjoy one of his favourite pastimes - golfing. As well, Eric never missed his annual visit to Scotland to celebrate his mother’s birthday, along with his three sisters.
Besides golf, cheering on the Maple Leafs, and spending many hours absorbed in fixing old watches, Eric also took up the hobby of working with stained glass during his retirement. Many friends were grateful recipients of the beautiful pieces he made.
Many thanks to the staff at Ina Grafton Gage Home for the loving care they provided to Eric while he was a resident in the home.
A celebration of life in Eric’s honour is to be held at the Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd. Scarborough. Saturday, May 31, 1 - 3pm.
