Eric Briggs

December 30, 1925 -  January 8, 2020

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather Eric Briggs. Eric "Poppa" Briggs was born December 30th 1925 in Stockport, England. He served in Her Majesty's Royal Air Force as a radar technician during the Second World War. After the war, Eric came to Canada with his wife Jean, to start a new life. He worked as an accountant in Toronto, and raised 3 girls: Dorothy Ann, Barbara Lynn, and Catherine Elaine. Poppa will be remembered for his great love of music, especially early big band, his wickedly dry sense of humor,his love and devotion to his wife Jean, and their 3 girls. Poppa is survived by his two daughters Ann and Cathy, his grandchildren Christopher, Mark,Michelle,Sam,and Lucas. Special friends Rob, Kathleen, and Joe, as well as extended family Hana, Quinton, and Wendy. Visitation will be held Monday January 13th 2020, at 11am, at Saint Peters Anglican Church, 1175 Cedar Street, Oshawa, followed by the church service at 12pm. Interment will take place at Thornton Cemetery, 1200 Thornton Road North. If desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society

Eric “poppa” was a great man and he had a everlasting impression on me with his great spirit and friendly charm . I’m sorry for your loss and I’m glad he had a multitude of people who loved him at end .
