In memory of

Eric Bales

September 14, 1927 -  January 24, 2023

Eric died peacefully at home on Tuesday January 24th, 2023, at 95 years old on the 14th anniversary of the passing of his beloved wife Patricia (nee Rickard). He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Beverley Knight and Liane Bales (Dan Bokan). His memory and legacy will live on through his grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Keegan and Cole; step-grandchildren Jeffrey and Cassandra, and great-grandchildren, Peyton and Madison.

Eric will be fondly remembered for his love of spending time outdoors in the garden or on the water catching fish. He had many talents, and was a skilled woodworker and built an array of furniture. He enjoyed reading good books, completing Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles, and building model ships. His sense of adventure included vacationing in Cape Code, Florida, Barbados and England, as well as Caribbean cruises.

Eric was born is England. He served in the Royal Air Force at the end of WW2 and worked as a cook on the ships. In 1958, he and Patricia decided to immigrate to Canada. They started a family in Toronto, then later moved to Ajax. Despite his career in the Tool and Die industry as a Manager at Stackpole Inc., Eric was best known in the GTA figure skating world for his figure skate sharpening business of 50 years. Eric and Patricia eventually relocated to Orono where he retired. In early 2020, he moved to Pickering, where he finished his journey peacefully in his sleep at the age of 95.

Rest in peace my friend. You are with the good LORD. Thank you for all the good deeds. I will never forget visiting you in Orono , walking through your garden, seeing how proud you were picking tomatoes and carrots. Your amazing skills in building those craft boats/ships. I will always treasure the boat you gave me. Rest in peace my friend till we meet again. May god bless you. Loves John/Josie Shankaran.

To Liana and Beverley - I have fond memories of both your parents. They both lived life to the fullest and had the stories to prove it. As well, they were always passionate about their family and loved all of you. My condolences on the passing of your father. Hugs. Valerie
