It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Emmanuel (Manoli) Svyrinakis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who peacefully left us on March 13, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 14, 1944, in Tympaki, Crete, Manoli moved to Canada at 23, where he met Ioanna Klouvidakis. Together, they built a life filled with love, raising two cherished daughters, Helen and Rose.
As new immigrants, Manoli and Ioanna worked tirelessly to establish a life in Canada, ensuring their daughters had a childhood filled with exploration and education. Their home was full of the sound of piano lessons, music, storytelling and they embraced their Greek heritage through Cretan dance lessons at the Cretan's Association. The family shared many special summers in Clearwater Beach and Crete, creating special memories.
One of his daughters’ most treasured memories is Manoli’s nightly bedtime ritual, where he brought stories to life with his expressive voice, weaving details that made each tale more engaging. His playful and present nature made him the fun-loving father they adored.
Though his first wife, Ioanna, tragically left them too soon, Manoli proudly took on the roles and responsibilities of both mother and father, raising his daughters with love, strength, wisdom, and kindness. He guided them with family meetings and ensured they knew how deeply they were loved. His unwavering commitment to them will forever be remembered, along with his advice to live with positivity and to embrace life to its fullest.
Manoli was later blessed to meet Christina (Se), who would become his loving wife. Together, they traveled extensively, exploring Asia, Spain, France, Greece, and Italy. Manoli was incredibly grateful for the love Se showed, not only to him, but to his daughters and grandchildren.
Manoli will always be remembered for his kind heart, zest for life, and infectious smile. He was an avid golfer, had a deep love for nature and found joy in the world around him. His generous spirit and sense of humor made everyone feel like family, whether he was sharing a glass of Raki with friends or dancing at a celebration. Manoli's laughter and presence brightened the lives of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife Se, daughters Helen (Chris) and Rose (Luciano), grandchildren James, Ethan, Ioanna, Anthony, and Maria, his sister Georgia, and extended family and friends. Manoli’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 20th, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at St. John The Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 at 10:00 am. An Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Pine Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Odette Cancer Center at Sunnybrook Hospital.
