Dr. Elizabeth P. O’Brien (Betty), nee Healy
(October 4, 1936 ~ October 25, 2017)

Peacefully on Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 in her 81st year, Betty passed away surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Paul O’Brien for 56 years. Proud mother to Margaret and Tim. Treasured grandmother to Rhiannon. Betty will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sisters Angela Corcoran (Austen), Julia Chatoor (W. Joseph) and Ella Herr (Conall) and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.

Betty and Paul brought their family to Toronto in 1968, where Betty established a wonderful network of friends, and a professional practice in Etobicoke. She practiced psychiatry until the age of 79, all the while gardening, cooking, entertaining, and taking care of everyone. Thanks to Drs. Sadinsky, Roitman, Horvath, Pohani and the nurses and the chemo clinic staff at North York General Hospital for their compassion and wonderful care.

Visitation will take place at MOUNT PLEASANT FUNERAL CENTRE, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd., Toronto (east gate entrance, north of St. Clair Ave., 416-485-5572) on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church, 78 Clifton Rd., on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations to North York General Foundation (designated to either the Freeman Centre for Palliative Care or Cancer Care: Chemotherapy Centre) in honour of Elizabeth O’Brien would be appreciated by the family.
