In memory of

Elizabeth Mary Byrne

May 18, 1931 -  March 4, 2022

Elizabeth Mary Byrne was born in Dublin Ireland on May 18th, 1931 and at the age of 25 with her 2 young daughters came to Canada to reunite with her husband who was waiting for her to start a new life here.

Our mother was a hard working woman who raised 7 children, 2 of whom have pre deceased her and she has been Blessed with 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who gave her much joy.

Our mother was also Blessed with her fine Irish spirit and joy of life that she brought to all who knew her. Her children and grandchildren have fond memories of many good times with a lot of laughter with their mother and grandmother.

Before our mother developed dementia she would always tell us that she wanted to die at home and that she wanted to “ go home” when she dies so now in death she will achieve her wishes. Our mother died at home and her ashes will be brought to Ireland as she requested.

A private cremation will take place in the coming days and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers a donation in her name may be made to Providence Centre Adult Day Program for seniors with dementia as our mother spent many happy days there. Please visit https://stmichaelsfoundation.com/donate/ and select providence healthcare from the drop down menu

From the Doerrie family we all wish of our deepest condolences to everyone.

Betty had a profound impact on my life as the mother of my lovely wife Olive, her oldest daughter. We will always be grateful for her making the Family tree grow.
She worked hard at the Post Office and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her Irish heritage was very important to her. St. Patty's Day will not be the same without her. May she RIP.

I will never forget the joy and excitement of the Holidays growing up: the wonderful and wacky combination of Irish and Italians together under one roof was total mayhem, and so much fun. I remember Betty then, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, always laughing and smiling, with that special Irish twinkle in her oh-so-blue eyes. We will miss her and remember her always. Our deepest condolences to the family.
