In memory of

Elizabeth Margaret Mulligan

June 12, 1944 -  August 11, 2025

On the morning of August 11th, 2025, Elizabeth Margaret Mulligan—known as Beth or Elma—passed peacefully, with her husband Bob by her side. She is also survived by her brother Jim, her two children, Joanne and Scot, as well as her beloved granddaughter Madeleine.

Born in North York on June 12, 1944, to James and Bessie Stevenson, youngest sibling to Jim and John Stevenson, Beth lived with an intellectual curiosity that led her to becoming her class valedictorian, already displaying the charm and confidence that would define her for the rest of her life. She filled much of her early life with good friendships and warm memories through youth associations, often recalling these times with fondness.

Beth spent her career with Air Canada, combining her gift of gab with her love for travel to see the world. She was known as the “Coupon Queen”, never cheap, but always thrilled by a good deal. She was an avid gardener, and never met a garden hose she didn’t love. She was also the family historian, using her keen interest in genealogy to trace the roots of both the Stevenson and Mulligan families with care.

Beth treated friends like family, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She could talk with anyone, making connections with strangers and bringing a little more of her light into the world. Her endless support, loveable stories and creativity will live on in all those that knew her and were lucky enough to be influenced by her positivity.

Beth’s life will be celebrated at Meadowvale Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centre on Sunday, August 17th, from 1:00–5:00 pm. In her honour, we invite you to share a story, a laugh or a garden hose with those you love.

Great lady-She took me to Casaloma for Christmas one year It was cold outside so I had my snowsuit on. I said I needed to go to the bathroom to aunt Elma - so she took me in and stripped off my snowsuit- that’s when I told her I just wanted to see what the bathroom looked like

Love you aunt Elma - Rest In Peace

We are saddened to hear about the passing of Aunt Elma.

When I started dating my husband (her great nephew) many years ago, Aunt Elma welcomed me to the family with open arms. Jamie and I always looked forward to seeing Aunt Elma at family events and remember the joy she shared when we got married. Later Aunt Elma graciously took the time to teach me the Stevenson family history, which we are incredibly grateful for and will cherish.

We are sending our love to you Uncle Bob, Joanne, Scott and Family.

Love Jamie, Alia and Oliver

What a beautiful picture: it captures the essence of Beth’s friendly, cheerful, welcoming personality. She was truly an exceptional person who faced her challenges with grace and courage. Our deepest condolences to Bob, Scot, Joanne, Ray and Madeleine.

This loss will stay with me forever. I know this to be true. It’s like losing my own Mom again. My Aunt Elma has always been there for me. She always had time and I always had time too. So glad I spent so much time either talking to her or seeing her. What a great lady she was. So kind and caring. She was a very genuine person and just a delight really. Had a lot of health issues but Uncle Bob handled it like a true champion and I’m so proud to say that the Mulligan’s are relatives of mine 🙏🙏🙏. Rest in heaven Aunt Elma. I’ll see you when I get there 😇. Hugs to my cousins Scot and Joanne as well as to Ray and Madeliene. We will all miss Aunt Elma and what she brought to this family. That’s for sure 👍. She was so tired, she told me that and I could see it. Resting on the other side now and I feel a sense of relief now. I’ll miss her hugs and I’ll just plain miss her presence but I will carry her with me always 🩷 as she would expect me to and I’ll always talk about her fondly as I should 👍. Hey nothing really bad to say about that woman 💯 so why look for something. Trust me. Nothing to see there 🤣. I would know and I know nothing about that. She was a lovely person 💜. I was fortunate to be able to call her my Aunt Elma 🫂

Aunt Elma will be deeply missed. Ill never forget the great big hug I'd get everytime I saw her. She loved telling stories about the family & you could ask her about any relative and she could tell you everything about them. Heaven definitely gained an angel.
