Loving and devoted wife, mother, grand/great grandmother, Elizabeth (Betty) Kennedy passed away peacefully at the Greenview Seniors Residence, Toronto on Wednesday, August 7 at the age of 93. Born in Toronto, Betty dedicated her entire adult life to the care and well-being of her growing family, and it was only fitting that her three surviving children were at her bedside for final embraces. After losing her husband (Harry) of 60 years in March 2020, Betty remained strong and resilient in looking out for the interests of her family that included Bob (Deb), Anne (Glenn), Maureen (Brad) as well as 8 grandchildren (Matthew, Sarah, Rob, Kaleigh, Janine, Alison, Kyle and Kristen) and 8 great-grandchildren (Tyler, Jessica, Lily, Wesley, Travis, Jack, Lucy and Reese). Large family gatherings became routine at her home in Don Mills and were a highlight in all our lives. We will all miss her Arrowroot squares.

Betty was predeceased by husband Harry, daughter Dianne, brother Jack, and sister-in-law Sylvia. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 14th. A funeral service will be held from 11:00-12:00 noon on Thursday, August 15th, immediately followed by a celebration of life, from noon to 2:00 PM. All will take place at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto. The celebration of life will recognize both Betty and Harry, as Harry passed during COVID and the family wishes to celebrate them both.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids), Toronto. We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, as well as to all the staff at Greenview Seniors Residence for providing excellent and compassionate care for Betty as she made it her home over the past two and a half years

Aunt Betty was such an important part of my family growing up. She was one of the focal points of my life that taught me what family love and commitment is. The last of my original van der Jagt/Evans family. I will miss her deeply. Condolences to all her clan.
