In memory of
Elizabeth Catherine Saltmarsh
September 28, 1931 -
May 23, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Catherine Saltmarsh (nee Beal) share with you that on Saturday, May 23rd, 2020 Elizabeth passed away. She slipped away peacefully in her sleep with her beloved husband Stan by her side at the age of 88.
Elizabeth was born in Acton, England on September 28, 1931, to Bernard Edward Beal and Catherine Beal. Elizabeth is predeceased by her older brother Bernard.
A strong and determined woman, Elizabeth survived The Blitz during World War II. As a young woman Elizabeth loved to travel through Canada, Europe, and the United States. She moved to Canada to marry Stan in 1955 after meeting him at a dance when Elizabeth was visiting Canada with her parents. Together she and Stan celebrated 65 years of love.
Elizabeth enjoyed sports including bowling, field hockey, and tennis. She was also an avid walker, participating in many marathon walks with her children. A poet herself, Elizabeth thoroughly enjoyed poetry, reading, music, and the theatre. Elizabeth was involved in her children's lives being active with Scouts and Guides and was President of the Home and School. She volunteered at the Michael Garron gift shop and helped with handicapped children.
Elizabeth will be missed greatly by her four children, Cathy, Mike, Rob, and Karen, her daughters in law Lynn and Jenny and son-in-laws Ian and Denis. She will be profoundly missed by her 9 grandchildren; Kevin, Frances, Krystal, Sabrina, Alex, Zach, Raichel, Ethan, and Evan, and her great-grandchildren, Avery, Bailey, Cassidy, and Noah. She was so proud of her grandchildren and was delighted to be a great grandmother. Elizabeth fondly remembered as Nana or to some in the family as "the Nana" was a kind, considerate and loving person who will be sadly missed by anyone who ever met her.
Her lifelong love and support will be deeply missed by her family.
The family would like to offer our grateful thanks to the outstanding staff at Michael Garron Hospital for their care and kind assistance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
