Elizabeth Anne Inglis
1936-2016
On March 10, 2016 Elizabeth Anne Inglis (nee Smith) was taken from us after a short but valiant battle against a serious infection, and a long but valiant battle with cancer and dementia. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Fairlene, her father Edgar (aka Teddy), her brother Douglas and her brother-in-law, Joseph Tyrrell. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bob, her daughter Stephanie and her son Frank, as well as her sister Margaret (Peigi) Tyrrell, her nieces Anne Tyrrell-Jones and Diana Tyrrell-Suchla, her nephew Joseph Tyrrell II, their extended families, her cousin Peter Nordland and his wife Lynn, dear friends Tom and Charmaine Meyer, Judy and Bob Wallace, and Nancy and Tom Codlin, as well as her “grandhorses” Pending Approval (Pendeen), Adorable (Sophie) and Cadfael, cats Maximum, Baba and Ghanoush, along with everyone at Langmuir Equestrian Services and Gimcrack Equestrian Centre, among many, many other friends in the Canadian Pony Club (Central Ontario Region), the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association and the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario, three organizations to which she devoted countless volunteer hours.
Known as Beth in her childhood and Liz to her friends in adulthood, she was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario before moving to Toronto after a brief stint in Winnipeg with Peigi. She was a founding director and Vice President of Technalysis Inc. As well as being an independent business woman, she was a tireless activist for children with special needs and gave deeply of herself to the community as a long-serving volunteer with many organizations. And she was a fiercely proud Canadian.
As far as her children are concerned, she was also the best mother anyone could ever ask for. She will be deeply missed.
Our family thanks the dedicated staff and volunteers of Greenview Lodge, Thompson House and Extendicare Bayview, but especially the doctors and nurses of Unit 3W at North York General Hospital for taking such great care of Liz. Visitation will take place on Wednesday March 16, 2016 from 4pm-6pm and 7pm-9pm at the YORK VISITATION CENTRE (160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, 416-221-3404). A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 17, 2016 at 3:00pm, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow. Donations to the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario or the Canadian Pony Club in her memory would be appreciated.
