In memory of

Eleni Paraschis

December 20, 1930 -  May 5, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved Eleni Paraschis on May 5th, 2021 at the age of 90.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 70 years Kiriakos; children, Athena (Jim), Ilia, Katarina (predeceased in infancy) and Kim (Jim); grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicholas.

Eleni was born in Itea-Florina, Greece in 1930 and lived through a difficult world and civil war along with her parents George and Soultana and six siblings, Anastasios, Pavlos, Iordana, Dimitrios, Ilias and Christos until marrying Kiriakos in 1950. After 13 years and two children she immigrated to Canada in 1963. Soon after she had her third child and managed through all the difficulties to teach herself to speak, read and write english. Eleni lived a simple life and was a faithful servant of God. Her sole purpose was to be a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was selfless and always there for her family, offering delicious meals, long talks and great advice. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she cherished the many years spent helping raise them.

She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her immediate and extended family. Her final resting place will be at Pine Hills Cemetary, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private visitation and funeral service will be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at 9am. There will be a live broadcast via the memorial site for all friends and family.

Eleni Paraschis was the Greek grandma I never had...

Always so sweet and kind to me every time I came to repair the house. She'd make my kids feel like her own grandkids too, LOL! She'd bring out a cooler with water and Cokes and made me feel like part of the family and not just a repairman. To all the family, thanks for letting me and Leah be a part of your mother/grandmother's life and make her home more comfortable and safe. We'll be praying for peace & comfort for all of you, and especially for Mr. Paraschis.

The irony of Easter being just a few days ago is not lost on me... Mrs. Paraschis is a beloved child of Jesus Christ, and I believe with all my heart that she is celebrating with Him in glorious eternal life, peace, and health: today and forever. We will not weep for long: we will arise in this knowledge that she has entered through a doorway into joy and peace which is reserved for the children of God in heaven.

Love you you all, and I plan to attend the virtual memorial online on Tuesday.

We are very saddened on the passing of my dear Teta Lena. She will always be remembered as a kind loving Teta whom I had much love and respect for. I will always remember her positivity and words of wisdom. She always had something nice to say. She will be reunited with my Dad who loved and adored his sister. I will never forget the calls and support she gave him in his last few years. Also reunited in heaven with her parents and 3 brothers. Rest In Peace my dearest Teta. Love you and will never forget you. XO
