Reverend Eleanor Mary Carr MOREITHI, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 28th 2023. Eleanor was born in Grand Bank, Newfoundland on June 2nd, 1935 to father Percy L. Carr and mother Eleanor Harris Carr. Eleanor was the beloved wife of 57 years of Isaac Herun Moreithi who passed away on May 16th, 2023. She was loving mother to Maria Muthoni Moreithi, Jeremy Karimi Moreithi, Martin Gitonga Moreithi and Elayna Wanja Wanjira Ciuzio. She was grandmother to Nik Golomazov and wife Angelique Golomazov, Christian Oliver and wife Teal Oliver, Stephanie Bilas and husband Dr. Peter Bilas, Anthony Ciuzio, and Leonardo Ciuzio. She was mother-in-law to Alison Oliver, Tatiana Tanney and Charles Ciuzio. Eleanor was a proud member of her extended Kenyan family.

Eleanor was the 49th female minister to be ordained into the United Church of Canada. She was the youngest of 6 with 5 older brothers, George Frederick Carr, Lt. General William Keir Carr, Robert Anderson Carr, Hugh Bearisto Carr and James Alexander Harris Carr. She attended Glebe Collegiate Institute and went on to receive her Masters Degree in Divinity from McGill University where she met the love of her life Isaac. She was a woman of great character and generosity, which she showed through her work with the United Church, as an English teacher in Africa, and her involvment with a number of charitable organizations. She was an active member of St. Bartholomew's Church where she chaired a "bicycles for Africa" project that collected thousands of bicycles and donated them to Namibia. Eleanor will be laid to rest next to her beloved Isaac.

Both Roald and I had the pleasure of spending time with Eleanor and Isaac on numerous occasions. Alison and Martin set up some of the most special times together in Fort Lauderdale and Key Largo, Florida. Eleanor was an inspiration to us both.
