Eglon Sylvester Weir

November 7, 1948 -  March 1, 2021

Eglon Sylvester Weir was born on November 7, 1948 in Browns Hall, St. Catherine, Jamaica to Cornelius Weir and Beatrice Lundy-Weir. He was the seventh child of ten children. He grew up in St. Catherine, Jamaica and learned the carpentry trade and built several government homes prior to his immigration to Canada.

In 1971 he immigrated to Canada and learned the mechanic trade and went on to work as a trailer mechanic. In that same year he met Thelma Geion Munn and knew he was destined to marry her. In September of 1972 he married his lifelong sweetheart, Thelma, who he called Gean and went on to have three children together.

He worked as a trailer mechanic for 33 years at Coca Cola Ltd in North York, Ontario and retired on January 31, 2014. He used his carpentry knowledge to do home renovations on a part-time basis. He also used this skill to help with the construction of production sets at his home church OneChurch.to, formally called Agincourt Pentecostal Church. He also volunteered as an usher for many years there.

Eglon Sylvester Weir, passed away peacefully at Markville Stoufville Hospital on March 1, 2021, with family by his side. He was predeceased by his sister Joyce Artrey, brother Roland Artrey, mother Beatrice Weir and father Cornelius Weir. He is survived by his wife Thelma Weir, Children Lynton Weir (Maxine Weir), Sandi Weir (Bradburn Hazelwood), Deion Weir, Eglon Junior Weir (Teresa Weir), eight grandchildren (Alexia, Mikail, Brandon, Mikailya, Ella, Aryana, Josiah and Aliya) and his siblings Clevent, Janetta, Clinton, Ivel, Gerval, Leslie and Joyce.

Due to the current COVID restrictions on gathering limits, the visitation and service are by invitation only. Please contact the family for more details.
