In memory of

Edward Richard Senior

May 3, 1930 -  December 8, 2022

Dear Ed also known as Ted to family and friends,

Passed peacefully at the age of 92, supported by the loving care of his family and dedicated caregivers.Survived by daughters Sue (Dawn Charlton) and Cathy.

Ed, the youngest of five children, was born in Ilford, Essex, England. During World War II, he was evacuated to Canada at the age of 10 as part of the Children's Overseas Reception Board (CORB). They travelled under escort on the SS Oronsay (which was bombed on its very next voyage). He eventually lived with the Craig family in Falconbridge.

Although far from home and from his sisters (who were also evacuated but sent to Sault Ste. Marie), Ed quickly adapted to winters in Canada learning to play hockey, skiing, tobogganing and also took up canoeing and fishing in the summers.

He often shared stories of how he and his teammate, George Armstrong (later a Toronto Maple Leaf legend), used to hitchhike into Sudbury to go to the movies. After the war, Ed returned to England for a short time to serve in the RAF (Royal Air Force) learning many skills that served him well throughout his life.

He later returned to Canada in the early 1950s where he first worked in the Sudbury mines as an electrician and eventually became a Property Tax Assessor in Toronto until his retirement. Ed travelled near and far (Cape Cod, New York, Florida, Bermuda, Bahamas, England, Australia, and Hawaii), but equally enjoyed time nearer to home in Ontario’s cottage country.

In his later years, Ed enjoyed long walks through the city’s many parks and neighborhoods, while observing the wildlife.

Sue and Cathy wish to thank the Amica Peel Village staff and healthcare professionals who not only provided care for Edward but also became a cherished community of friends.

Cremation has occurred privately. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to ‘Helping Hands’ in

Edward’s honor. https://www.amica.ca/helping-hands-charity
