In memory of

Edward Patrick Hayes

December 30, 1940 -  June 7, 2023

On June 7, 2023, at Michael Garron Hospital, Edward Patrick Hayes passed away peacefully with his son and best friend Ed Jr. and his daughter-in-law Joanne (Kohek) by his side. He is survived by his grandchildren Jack, Clark and Payton, his daughter Shelley (Dave) and his grandchildren Sarah (Jacob), Ryan, Laura and Andrew, his sisters Bridget (Power), Mary (Hayes-Kieley), brothers Ben, John (Mary) and Alphonsus (Sonia). Edward was predeceased by his parents Nora and Tom as well as his brother Tom and sister Anne (Wilkins) and cousin Byron. Edward loved nothing more than going to work every day, as this talented man could build anything and everything. He patiently taught the finer skills of carpentry to anyone who wanted to learn and shared his vast knowledge of all things hockey and boxing. We are eternally grateful for every day spent with him, as he was always there ready to lend a helping hand - he was a gift to us and our hearts are heavy with the loss of this beautiful spirit. There will be a funeral service on Saturday June 17th at 10:30a.m. at Pine Hills Cemetery with visitation one hour prior from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

To the Hayes family: I am so saddened to hear of your loss. I have heard Sarah speak so fondly of the many good times she shared with her grandfather and know that he was a very special person. May he rest in peace now, with no pain, in a beautiful love filled place in the sky. Keep your memories of him in your hearts so that he can still be a part of you all. Love, Ida.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the family. Even though he is gone physically he will always stay in your heart and your memories. We will always remember his phrase Life tough kid when ever anything came up. Although we did not see him a lot over time he has always been considered still part of our family.
