“If I had a flower for every time I thought of you… I could walk through my garden forever.”
- Tennyson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Lydia MacDonald, née Lees, on Easter Monday, April 17th, 2017, surrounded by love with her family by her side at Lakeridge Hospital in Oshawa. Lydia was a loving, creative woman who loved to laugh and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Her paintings, recipes and knitted wares will keep her in our hearts for a long time to come.
She will be dearly remembered by her husband Bruce, to whom she was married for 65 cherished years. She was fiercely proud of her three sons, Bruce, Robert and Douglas, and the daughter-in-laws she embraced like they were her own, Kelly, Gail and Vicki. Her brother George and sisters Lillian, Anne and Doris hold many warm memories of their sister, as do her many nieces and nephews. Also grieving the loss of their Nanny are her seven grandchildren Mairi, Meghan, Deanna, Alex, Shannon, Miya, Cameron, and her soon-to-be great-grandchild. Her family is comforted to know that Lydia will be in good company; she will be greeted by her parents George and Lillian Lees, sister Thelma, brother Jack, and beloved cat Francis.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Thornton Funeral Centre (1200 Thornton Rd. N., Oshawa, 905-579-6787) at 1 pm with visitation one hour prior and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Please visit www.etouch.ca for further details.
We’ll see you over the rainbow, Lydia.
