Mr. Duarte M. Da Ponte, son of the late Maria and Manuel Da Ponte was born February 21st, 1959 in Sao Miguel, Portugal.

He was married to Betty Da Ponte in September of 1980. This union was blessed with three children, Jessica Da Ponte and her partner Kevin Armstrong, James Da Ponte, and his partner Monica Costa and Janine Da Ponte and her partner Ryan Keating.

Duarte moved to Canada in 1974 to pursue a better life for himself and his family. Upon his arrival, he committed himself to learning and became fluent in a foreign language with the dreams and aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur someday. He and his wife later went on to live out those dreams when they founded Trio General Contracting Ltd. and Da Ponte Management Inc. Duarte was a devoted and successful businessman and generous provider for his entire family. A skilled entrepreneur who loved to hit the links in business and on the green as an avid golfer. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. He suddenly departed this life on Thursday, November 18th, 2021 at Headwater Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario. He is survived by his older brothers Gus & Joe Alves, his younger sister Helia Resendes and his best friend John Hayes.

His memory and legacy will live on forever and be cherished by those who have had the pleasure to know him. May his heart be filled with love, his pain be replaced with happiness and his soul be at peace forever.
