Drusilla Blake, 89, of Brampton, passed away on February 9th 2021 in Brampton, Ontario.


Drusilla was born in Johns Hall, Clarendon Jamaica to Mr. Edward Blake & Florentina Blake on June 21st, 1931. She was the 9th child of 10 siblings. She went to school at Johns Hall Primary School at 19 years old moved to Kingston Jamaica and took a cosmetology course and began working as a hair stylist while maintaining work as a housekeeper & Nanny. At 25 she had her daughter Jennifer and 2 sons Julian and Courtney thereafter. She then became an entrepreneur and began selling sweet treats as a traveling vendor.
She immigrated to Canada in October 1972 and worked as a Housekeeper & Nanny until she secured a job as one of the first female Metal Fabricators at ITT Millrod Company where she worked as a loyal employee until the mid- 80’s. She decided to go back to school and pursue a career in the medical field. She graduated from George Brown College in 1984 and received a diploma in the health care aid program and worked as a Personal Support Worker for Bayshore & Leisure World Nursing Homes for a number of years until she retired. She was an amazing woman and good mother. She was also a hard worker, loyal friend and a devoted grandmother.
Drusilla is survived by her 3 children, Jennifer Brown & Spouse Hassan Brown, Julian Bailey and Spouse Yvette Bailey, Courtney Bailey & Spouse Ana Gabriela Bailey, and her 6 grandchildren, Oneika LaMothe & Spouse Anton LaMothe , Weonta Brown, Alexander & Spouse Iskra Bailey, Joshua, Anthony, and Jayden Bailey, as well as her 2-great granddaughters, Anahla & Zaria LaMothe. Drusilla is preceded in death by her 9 siblings.

Pallbearers will be David Hope, Donavon Marshall, Michael Da Silva, Courtney Bailey, Hassan Brown & Anton LaMothe

The family of Drusilla Blake wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Burton Manor Long-term Care, including all the nurses and especially Romain, Donna, Darlene, Ruby & Maria. And a special thanks to her dear friend Hyacinth Thomas for all her support over the years

Visitation will be 4pm – 8pm on February 16th 2021 at Meadowvale Funeral Centre

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on February 17th 2021 at Meadowvale Funeral Centre with Reverend Julian A. Bailey of Community Miracle & Visionary Ministry, officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowvale Cemetery. Arrangements are by Meadowvale Funeral Centre.
