In the early 1960s, when we were McMaster undergrads, Lynne tried out for the Women's Varsity Basketball team. Despite her smart and "never give up" playing style, she was deemed "too short!" Undeterred, she became Team Manager! Years later, after attaining her MSW at UBC and practicing as a social worker, she enrolled in the new McMaster medical program which admitted students with a broad, not necessarily scientific, educational background and excelled. However, I recall her telling me that often she had to RUN because some medical male profs walked very fast! A successful practice in Toronto followed, with a focus on health of executives. Many years later, when illness had felled her, she re-opened her practice! For a time.
That was Lynne. She just didn't stop. Plus she was kind, generous, thoughtful, and always compassionate, bestowing her unique gifts on all of us. Thank you Lynne, for hanging in, for as long as you could. We are the beneficiaries - forever!
Remembering the great memories and wonderful visits. Thinking of you Maureen and wishing I could be there. Sending love and thoughts from Vancouver.
