In memory of

Dr. Donald A. Stefansson

July 22, 1952 -  March 25, 2022

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Emily and Stefan Stefansson. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Don on Friday, March 25, 2022. He is survived by his spouse, Devika; and his son Satish; his sisters, Lillian, Roberta, Linda and Susan; his brother, Steve; his mother-in-law, Radhica; his sisters-in-law, Veta (m. Narine) and Savita; his brother-in-law, John (m. Nalini); sister Joanne (deceased). As a medical doctor he worked as a GP for 45+ years. To his patients he was caring and compassionate, often running late because every patient was listened to. To his family he was kind, reliable, supportive: but words cannot capture who he was. Don was a special human. He will be missed, but forever in our hearts. Viewing at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Friday, April 1, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 1-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to North York General Hospital.

My husband and myself were patients of Dr. Steffanson for last 40 years. It is very sad to hear those news. He was very understanding and kind. May his soul rest in eternal peace.. We can never ever find a Doctor like Dr Steffanson.

Lisa Brock (Patient)

I spoke to Dr. Stefansson last Tuesday. I called yesterday to confirm a referral and was told he passed away on Friday. I was shocked and sadden to hear this. I have been a patient for over 40 years and he was a kind doctor. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace.

Ian Jackson (Patient and Patient Friend)

I am pretty sadden by this news. Although I am only a patient, Donald was a great person to me. My mission was always to get him to laugh and not only be a great doctor. Once we got on that level he had great wit to bring to the table.
I was very fond of him and I am sorry for your loss.
